any idea what was wrong? the strange loud noise was rythmic and people were mentioning that centre cylinder again.

on its second pass through man vic today, The Scots Guardsman failed. Everybody was taken off the train and it then headed off up the bank making a lot of loud and strange noises. Was it heading towards the East Lancs?

Just to say that 71000 was a nice sight coming through Victoria this morning. I think the whistle before and in the station caugth people's attention.

Sat 10th is being shown as having the Heart of Wales running from Manc to Wales and back. It isn't steam hauled out of manc, but most of the tour is. It is shown on uksteam and on the Railway Tour site as being double headed by the two black 5s I know 44871 is out and about and has been covering for...

it does seem to be doing a lot of work at the moment its replaced Tangmere a few times and done a lot more of GBIII than it was due to I was planning to see tangmere on the bank holiday monday, then 70013 was due to replace it, now maybe another loco. even the railway touring company is confused ......

70013 has been taken out of service with a firebox problem.

I've heard suggestions that a of Riley Black 5 will be taking over its workings. Any truth in that ?

71000 seems to be greyed out for the scarbough trains now and isn't booked for any mainline running on uk steam.

is anything wrong ?

on the orginal Cotton Mill Express timetable, the Scott was to light engine up to Castleton and use the triangle to turn around.

looks like 71000 is also rostered onto the the Crewe - Scarbough summer trips. According to steamuk, they are changing the route to go via Vic instead of stockport this time around
