Quite a few of us today: Jonathan, Alan, Jack, Dave3 Stephen, Peter, Dave2, myself. We distributed some keys. Anyone of us who still needs a standard railway padlock key or our workshop door key, please let Alan or myself know. I sorted through some keys in our keysafe and put the keys for the clock...

The Electrical volunteers' report Sunday 14-01-2024
A very cold and dismal morning. I had been to Timpsons for keys cut for the workshop, our cupboard and the standard padlock for two of our new members. None fitted. (Keys that is - not members!!) With the scaffolding tower, we did some more emergency lights in the over bridge and stairwells. All don...

Re: The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 24-12-2023.
Re emergency lights I'll get some more mains-coil relays. Fitted with a couple of resistors, capacitor and diode to hold in at a voltage lower than the operating voltage as they will be on, effectively, for ever. Awaiting a mains fail. I think we've 2 in stock. So 2 more? Also, some more led strips,...

The Sunday electrical volunteers' report 3/12/2023
Jonathan, Collin, Sophie, Peter, Jack, myself today, a very very cold morning. After the usual cup of tea and a bacon bap, we headed off to Heywood. The car park lights had been reported as out when the railway was open during hours of darkness. Even though the platform lights were on. And they're t...

Re: The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 15-10-2023.
We need some form of plassy clip to hold the blue button batteries in.
Also, Geoff (stn master) would like a better noise making. May try a solenoid hitting an old phone bell.

Re: The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 01-10-2023.
Alan forgot to mention that we had a 'management' meeting with Lee Kenny in the fxp room concerning who our head of dept is going to be. A successful meeting and I'm sure a new hod will be found. We also discussed the way we are going to record fire alarm and emergency lighting scheduled testing. I ...

Re: The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 10-09-2023.
Yes, a nice day. On driving in to BBS I was pleased to note Simon had replaced the errant west clock face in the clock tower. It was at long last showing the correct time. Snag. The other 3 faces are now showing the wrong time! Shambles. The blue button system for the barrow xing. Alan has slightly ...

Hopefully, the new blue button amplifier for the barrow crossing is OK now. The first attempt wasn't right.

After a brew, mobile scaffold and ladders up to the street at the front of BBS. Refitted the two lamps on the bridge with modern LED units. And wiring changed for...

The electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 18-06-2023
Another Sunday, another ELR. Colin, Jonathan, Jack and myself today. We took the scaffold up to the pavement outside BBS to do the 2 lamps on the road-bridge. Apparently they haven't worked for over 20 years. Simon had fitted a new fuse box in the clock tower. The old one had rusted through and was ...
