The times quoted above are the provisional times which appear on HF Railtours website (the fact they are on nice 5 minute boundaries is always a clue that they are not the final timings). Rarely (if ever) do the provisional timings advertised by the promoter match the final timings produced by Netwo...

I would have thought there would be better places than Piccadilly station to photograph it e.g. as it crosses one of the roads between Picc and Oxford Road. There are lots of high buildings either side of the line - are any accessible to allow you to get level with or above the line? Anyway, I suspe...

Somewhere I have a photo of 48151 passing through platform 14 at Piccadilly, albeit on the back of the train with a diesel on the front. This was the ECS from Longsight to Liverpool prior to The Fifteen Guinea Special 40th anniversary re-run on 10th August 2008. The 8F had stabled at Liverpool Road ...

46115 was due to leave Man Vic at 15.02, but "the_jon_m" says that she left about 30 minutes after that (which tallies with a couple of postings on National Preservation), so the entry in the Bury South signal box register at "circa 3.30pm" was almost certainly not the Scot. Also...

At the risk of repeating myself , the heading of this section is Mainline workings - 'Details of ELR related tours, charters etc. using both steam and diesel locos - including Ian Riley's activities .' I do not see - and neither do many others where 'The Cotton Mill Express' with 46115 comes into t...

They must have been asleep for 2 hours - we spent nearly 4 hours in Eccles Loop waiting for a diesel, then waiting while they dismantled the motion on 46115
